Feb 14, 2024 | News

Celebrating 25 years of influencing design narratives, Pantone continues its tradition of setting the tone for the year by unveiling the 2024 Colour of the Year, Peach Fuzz. This soft, pinkish-orange hue marks a milestone in Pantone’s journey, encapsulating stories of compassion, connection, and authenticity.

Officially named “Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz,” this velvety, gentle, and subtly sensual colour echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection. Peach Fuzz is a radiant shade with warmth and modern elegance. Its subdued nature arrives at a time marked by tumultuous events, offering a much-needed respite—a colour that effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.

This year’s choice “echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

The selection of Peach Fuzz comes after a meticulous process undertaken by Pantone’s colour experts. Drawing inspiration from movies, art, fashion, design, travel destinations, technologies, and more, these experts conduct colour trend forecasting research to pinpoint the shades influencing the world. Utilising forecasting tools, colour psychology research, and other sources, they narrow the options to one colour that sets the tone for the upcoming year.

A Divergence in Colour Selection

Peach Fuzz marks Pantone’s 25th colour of the year, and its selection reflects a departure from the bold tones of the previous year. In contrast to the vibrant Viva Magenta of 2023, Peach Fuzz embraces a more muted and calming palette. Described as a colour radiant with warmth and modern elegance, it resonates with compassion, offering a tactile embrace that effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.
